The Uganda Chamber of Mines & Petroleum (UCMP) is a non-for-profit, non-governmental organization, representing the interest of the mining and petroleum sector in Uganda. UCMP is a coordinating and facilitating centre for information and administrative support to prospective and current investors in the mining and exploration sectors in Uganda.

It also promotes, encourages, protects and fosters responsible exploration and services in mining and petroleum sectors in Uganda to benefit all the stakeholders.

Membership of the Chamber is drawn from a wide section of stakeholders which include petroleum and mining companies, materials service provides, professional bodies and individuals.



UCMP: Uganda to host second oil and gas convention 
The Uganda Chamber of Mines and Petroleum (UCMP) is set to host the second annual oil & gas convention from April 27-28, 2016 at the Kampala Serena Hotel as the country seeks to spark renewed interest in the sectorRunning under the theme, “Suppliers’ Roadmap to Operational Excellence”, the conference is largely targeted at reassuring suppliers and subcontractors about the opportunities in the oil and gas sector amidst the tough industry challenges so far.Irene Nakalyango, the Uganda Chamber of Mines and Petroleum chief executive said the conference is aimed at reinvigorating the industry and highlighting the salient opportunities that Ugandans must grasp.“We call upon everyone involved in the supplying of goods and services in the oil and gas sector to make it a point to attend this summit as it will definitely boost their business opportunities,” noted Nakalyango.Uganda’s oil industry has been in a lull because of government and the international oil companies (IOCs) delayed resolution on the two critical projects of the refinery and the pipeline required for the future development of the natural resource.Read more
Mining: Uganda at defining moment
Vast deposits of mineral wealth could turn around many lives. Bridgette Radebe, the executive chairperson of Mmakau Mining, in South Africa, who delivered the keynote speech at the second mineral wealth conference held in Kampala organised by the Uganda Chamber of Mines and Petroleum, said this was “a defining period” for Uganda. “Uganda is sitting on a defining moment for the unique years to come,” Radebe said. Read more
